Google has redesigned the Maps and the subtle and clean design has made it look better than before. Colour scheme has changed and updated the icon for better understanding of the places and interests.
It has updated driving, navigation, transit and explore maps which will improved user experience.

Google has designated specific colours to distinguish the places such as Food & Drinks, Shopping, Health and etc. As of now the plan of designating colours to the places sounds a bit confusing and will be new to users, it would be clear only after the update is rolled out.

“No matter how or where you’re using Google Maps, you’ll have the same consistent experience,” says Google

The new design will roll out over the next few weeks across all the Google products that incorporate Google Maps, including the Assistant, Search, Earth, and Android Auto. It will also appear in apps, websites and experiences offered by companies that use Google Maps APIs as well in coming months.
